3D Printed Project
Winter 2016

Timeline: 2 Weeks
My Role: 3D Model Designer, 3D Printer Operator
Tools: 123D Make, Adobe Photoshop, Ultimaker 2, MakerBot Replicator 2

Methods: 3D Slicing, 3D Model Rendering, Plastic Molding

Inspired by laser cut 3D puzzles, I set out to create my own. I originally sliced a 3D model of a goldfish in 123D Make and created a 2D drawing of the slices in Adobe Photoshop (with special emphasis on the fins and tails. The pieces were sliced then 3D printed using Ultimaker 2 and MakerBot Replicator 2. Curvaceous fins and tails were created by bending the pieces before they completely cooled on the Ultimaker 2.
